St. Andrew's Day Celebrations

The Fredericksburg Scottish Society is celebrating St. Andrew's Day on Tuesday, 11/17 at 7:30 at the Fredericksburg Pub. They have reserved the back room.

A group of us at XMarks the Scot will be gathering Saturday, 11/28th at 6:00 PM at the Fredericksburg Pub to celebrate the our Patron Saint's Day.

You are welcomed to attend both events.

Tartan Day Celebrations

Tartan Day is not till tomorrow, but the weekend has been full of activities. Today, the Fredericksburg Scottish Society celebrated Tartan Day at Hugh Mercer's Apothecary Shop. Last night, I celebrated it with some of my fellow XMarkers in Newport News. Click here for an account of the evening. For me tomorrow at worked will be a kilt day with my tartan vest.

Tartan Day Celebration

The Scottish Society of Fredericksburg will celebrate Tartan Day on Sunday, April 5th beginning at noon at the Hugh Mercer's Apothecary Shop on Caroline Street downtown.

Other Celtic Happenings

Our Celtic cousins in the Welsh Socity are celebrating their Patron Saint David on March 1st with a potluck dinner. Click here for more details.

Later in March, it's St. Patrick's Day. Fredericksburg will host a couple of events to honor the Patron Saint of Ireland. The Blue and Gray Brewery will host on Saturday, March 14th a Parade at the Bowman Center in Spotsylvania. The Parade will be followed with a corned beef and cabbage lunch. Click here for details.

Epilogue: Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Fredericksburg

Robert Burns Celebrations

The last week has been one of celebrating the 250th Anniversary of Robert Burn's Birthday. Sunday, 1/25 there was a Kilt Night at the new The Pub at Fredericksburg. Two other XMarkers from the Internet forum of kilt wearers, X Marks the Scot. com joined me with the kilted staffers to Toast the Bard. You can read about it here.

Saturday night, 1/31 The Fredericksburg Scottish Society hosted a Burn's Night at the Fredericksburg Country Club. We were royally entertained by the Mary Washington University Pipe Band, The Eagles. Scottish dancers with them showed us their well performed steps.





Preston Simms did a wonderful job in being the emcee. His son, Preston once again did performed an excellent performance with the Ode to the Haggis. HRM Melissa Klanecky did one of the best Immortal Memory readings, I've ever heard.

My friend Mein from X Marks the Scot joined me for his first Burn's Night and enjoyed his taste of Haggis! The best I've ever had!
